Padman—Where There is Will There is a Way!

It is a scene from the movie, 20th-Century Women. Directed by Mike Mills, the flick was released in 2016. All of them are seated in a small cubicle-sized room at a dining table. I mean, it is claustrophobic. Nevertheless, they are chilling and discussing. Suddenly, Dorothea (Dorothea is a mid-life crisis divorced woman) asks her son Jamie to wake Abbie who is seated heads down on the table. So, when Jamie did requests, holding her arm, she openly responds that she is menstruating.  Well, of course, Dorothea mildly retaliates. Consequently, Abbie propounds on the significance of the reality of this natural monthly release in women.

This scene is indeed creative because it is like an artistic propaganda serving to realize the openness of the menstruation. Abbie makes Jamie (he is a just 15-year-old boy) to assertively utter the word “Menstruation”. Following with others to repeat the same, she stresses on the fact that it is just fine and easy. Hence, there is nothing to hide about. The subtle way by just repeating the word “Menstruation”, it gradually seeps in each being around the periphery of that table. She did strengthen her views by delivering some soul-stirring dialogues.

The Story of Padman

The above-mentioned segment forms a compacted gist of the movie, Padman. Directed by R.Balki, the movie slowly paces up to hook you until the end when Akshay Kumar by his modest demeanor touches your every corpuscle. He moves you, definitely. You will unknowingly move out of his superstar stature and crowd-pleasing usual maneuvers to realize the real character of a common rural man. The man who is trying to implement a social change. Although the movie has purposely edited the reality, may be on the grounds of public protocol, the women will so very much relate to the nitty-gritty nuances that they follow in their household during those 4 divine days.

It is indeed a groundbreaking attempt. That said, it is a sort of icing on the cake of sanitary napkins’ campaigning, throughout India at this duration. The point is clearly stated. The taboo attached to the periods is so rampant. Be it a city or rural, it is the stringent prevalence that snatches the liberty of women’s way to live. Consequently, the movie nails the cause. In the times when you can see innumerable campaigns and agenda to cut the taxes or lower the prices of sanitary napkins, Padman marks an effectual punch.

Padman – Inspired by Arunachalam Muruganantham’s True Story

Padman is a real narrative of Arunachalam Murugunananthan from Tamil Nadu. Observing his wife using rags and newspapers during her days of menstruation, he resorts to experimenting with cotton and other material. After a series of failure, he finds the technique to manufacture the cellulose fiber-made sanitary napkins.

Arunachalam Muruganantham is an inventor of Sanitary napkins machine that produces low-budgeted pads. The non-commercial business grew throughout the nation, while it had demand from overseas, too. Reveling in his stardom, he had faced a lot of emotional turmoil when his familial members did not empathize his actions and venture.

The point is about to see the fact just as it is. This was clear in his head. His effort, that too in a territory that is totally stranger and unknown to the norms, Arunachalam Murugantaham undauntedly toiled, devoid of the inhibitions, to attain his noble objective. The objective to deliver low-cost sanitary napkins to every woman in rural India.

Mumbai To Kanyakumari On Road By A Cycle – An Adventure Tale Of Harsh And His Undaunted Journey

Wednesday – the 21st of December, 2016

“I look down at the pedal, while riding it is still, rotating well, devoid of any screeching noise. I determine, that I must continue to ride for few more hours to end the cycle journey. Even the thought of arriving at my destination makes my eyes watery. Such emotions have been fuelling my journey from the day when I left Mumbai on December 8, 2016. Tears now begin to spill and roll down my cheeks. I pull my sunglasses to wipe off my tears, but I realize that my hands have gone numb!  I now blow air from my mouth to rid myself off of the dust and sweat. I am tired of riding and all I want is to embrace the end of the journey. By completing 1700 km of adventure, I will soon reach the end of the Indian subcontinent.”

Harsh set off on his bicycle, which he named as Flechazo (meaning love at first sight in Spanish), on 8th of December 2016 to ride till the southern tip of India in Kanyakumari. Steering through the ghats of the western coast until Goa, and exploring the southern coastal territory of India, it was his maiden long ride. The experience of his stay at various lodges and accommodations, the food and the new acquaintances, the bitter and spiritual encounters, social dilemmas, and at the end, the beautiful Indira point.

Harsh with Flecazho

Harsh Shah is a resident of Mumbai. Exceedingly intrigued by the multiple adventures, Harsh has always been on an adrenaline rush when it comes to one. Maybe it is Marathon, Cycling, running, Mountaineering, Climbing, or World-trotting, he has set his hand on each one of them. To excel, he has completed his Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) from Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS). Professionally, he is Company Secretary and work as an excellent Spanish tutor.

One of the dreadful experiences during his cycle ride, as stated in the book,

“On the 6th day, I could clearly hear my deep breathes’ sound as I exerted and steered the uphill section of Canacona. The jungle had been silent and the climate was pleasant. From the woods, all of a sudden, I heard a hissing noise. I watched around and tried gauging the source. I had got a little restless, little ahead, again, when I heard the blazing sound. As there had been no vehicles around, I was scared to extend my ride.

Is there a wild animal chasing me?

Although the adventurous zone of my fearless mind had strongly desired to witness the phenomenon; I was fearful of having brutally attacked, being alone, which had given me cold shivers down my spine.

I had felt something harshly moving in the trees above me as I hurriedly rushed ahead. I anxiously looked up. A gigantic green monkey with a black face was staring me. I was petrified. I rode faster and faster to escape from him. He, then, began chasing from one tree to another at a parallel speed! I was frozen to death.

Who would want to have a brutal fight with the ancestors? Despite he had given up chasing me, after around 50 meters, the goosebumps persisted even after he had disappeared.”

It is his inner quest that has made him follow his mind with undying determination. In order to cover larger areas, he has planned a series of bike rides in future. Recently, he accomplished his cycle-ride from Mumbai to Jammu in December 2017. He plans to pen down his wonderful journey sooner.

Learning To Deal The Loss — Let It Lose You Sooner Than Before

Recently my interest in stories and penning them down has grown larger. It is the original cause of the onset of mythology and the reason behind so many narratives spanning from ancient time to the remodified versions, until today. They always had something to tell you more, to expand the horizons of the knowledge and understanding, to bloom our sleeping petals one by one and transform us into profound being. All of this just by a simple tale. Stories depicting serious ideologies and analogies tend to reach larger masses when they are manifested in the forms that are intermingled and presented through the fabric of fables, folk-tales, etc.

Relationships hold an important place in each individual’s life. So, when I was reading this article by Mark Manson, wherein he stated how he, with his wife, strolled through a lane that holds his first date memory. In this short piece, he focusses on the vagaries of relationship, that is not just related to humans, but with every aspect and object we come across and having spent some good time with them in our life. We form a relationship with each one of them. This very attachment does now allow us to be eligible and mature enough to take the losses easily or to have a grasp of the absence of the attached object. Moreover, to say, ability to accept to lose them easily. It is tough, to face a loss.

About Loss, Once, …

“Oh, freaking damn, I forgot my stuff in the hotel room,” suddenly exclaims Rosie, who had visited Kochi for the Biennale, with other three friends. She realized that she had left them hanging in the cupboard. In spite of checking all her belongings, it just slipped out of her mind to see if there is something left inside the wooden small cabinet that generally hotels equip the rooms to store the baggage.

To her surprise, she did feel a jolt of despair, owing to her favorite top and trousers, but that did not have a plunging hold on her. She soothed herself. She immediately restored her state of mind.  Her losses in relationships (the topic as described by Manson) had always had a greater toll on her.

I think the repetitive gestures of loss to her, eventually, had transformed her into a snub. The positive side of being snub—wherein you become detached to the reactions. A stoic attitude prevails. The times, when she would be harrowed by her abstract emotive turbulence, had now been easier to be faced and ignored or may be forgotten about. Well, time does pave a way.

If you gradually learn the chart of course of the events (both pleasured and disadvantageous), you definitely will begin to know yourself. Gradually, you begin to learn that the temporality of the events whatsoever is so trivial. Constantly re-realizing the fact that “the lost” could never be back in one’s life, signifies the whole thing of losing. It is this passing of phases that allows us to refresh our perspectives towards living.

Do Not Miss Blue Blood Supermoon on 31st January 2018!

A supermoon is a rare event. Moon has always been a part of many poets’ artistic and literary expressions. Movies have depicted moon as a connecting aspect of romantic gestures between lovers. Moon is connotated with numerous mythic tales and stories. However, Moon is still watched with great curiosity and admiration. The spots on the moon are still been intriguingly observed upon. Every year, two eclipses occur that snatch away the opportunity of the full moon to revel in its rare wholeness.

On 31st January 2018, the moon will not be black and blue but red and orange. The moon will not just be observed by melancholic and contemplative minds but all of the residents of the earth. It will be the moment of rejoicing for the astronomy researchers and geeks.

The supermoon will be eclipsed on this full moon day. On 2nd January, the larger-appearing moon, called supermoon attracted the enthusiasts. There is more to come. The same supermoon will be eclipsed while showing a wonderful tinge of colors. This rare celestial event will definitely overwhelm many. This will be the first total lunar eclipse of the year. The next total lunar eclipse will be observed in December 2033 (according to NASA). Hence, it is not to be missed! It is also known as Blood Moon owing to the red shades.

The last total lunar eclipse occurred in 2009 while the last Blue Moon happened very far in the year of 1866. This is a rare Stellarium event because it is happening after the span of 150 years.

Supermoon Visibility In The Locations

The blood moon will be seen in Eastern Europe, Middle East, Indian subcontinent, Australia, Canada and nearly majority of the part of the world. However, the area from the Indian subcontinent to the European territory will be fortunate to observe for very fewer moments. Pacific Ocean, Central Asia, and Australia will be able to have a perfect viewing of the eclipse.

The phase shall sustain for a total of 77 minutes. It will move through the southern part of earth’s shadow. As far as the appearance of the moon is concerned, the lower part of the moon will be brighter than the upper part.

What is SuperMoon Lunar Eclipse?

A Supermoon is defined as the one that apparently appears 14 percent larger than the general one. This happens because the moon is nearer to the fall equinox.

A lunar eclipse is termed as the phenomenon when the moon, earth, and sun come in the one line and in the same order. Due to this alignment, the Earthians cannot see the full bright white moon. Instead, they will see a dark circle bordered by a light that appears like a ring with a jewel.

Supermoon Lunar eclipse is a rare celestial event. The merging of two phenomena happens after many years. If you miss then you have to wait until 2033.

Furthermore, if the weather is cloudy on that night, you can catch the live stream reeled by NASA.

6 Reasons Why Good Sleep Is Utmost Necessary To Human Body

Sleep is a vital indicator of overall health and well-being. When you are asleep, your brain signals your body to release hormones and compounds. We spend up to one-third of our lives asleep. Follow some simple steps that are effective for good night’s sleep:

Stick to a daily schedule.
Evaluate your bedroom to ensure ideal temperature, sound, and light.
Lay on a comfortable mattress and pillows.
Turn off electronics before bed.

6 Reasons Why Good Sleep Is Utmost Necessary To Human Body

Increases Immunity

Not getting enough rest has been linked to a laundry list of mental and physical health problems including those that stem from an impaired immune system. After a work of a long day, the body needs complete rest for 7-8 hours. Good amount of sleep helps in maintaining a good immune system which is able to face any changes in the surroundings.

Beauty Benefits

The face is free from dark circles, acne, hair loss, and red eyes if you have sufficient amount of sleep. It is also said that staying awake in the night till late makes you gain more weight! And a proper sleep leads to a healthier skin.

Retain Memory

People who are sleep deprived have a hard time to receive information due to the brain’s overworked neurons. Your brain may interpret events differently. You may tend to have impaired judgment and may even lose the ability to access previous information.

Improves Memory

We all know lack of sleep can make us grouchy, miserable, unfocused, and unproductive. Sleep enhances our memory, performance, and creative problem-solving skills. All the things which you have learned throughout the day need to digest in your brain which can happen through a sound sleep.

Reduces Stress

Sleep makes you more resilient to daily stress aka more willpower! A good night’s sleep allows you to tackle the day’s stress easier. Sleep is a type of meditation which helps in releasing all the worries, tensions, stress and gives you strength to face them all boldly.

Healthy Weight

Poor sleep habits can increase the body’s energy needs. At night, movement and need for calories are reduced. But when you are sleep deprived, your brain will release chemicals to signal hunger. This can lead to eating more, exercising less, and gaining weight and your body becomes prone to diseases like diabetes, obesity, heart diseases, etc. Decrease the risk for health conditions by sleeping for at least 6-8 hours. Sound sleep will automatically manage your hunger level.

So how much do you need to sleep?

The answer is, it depends on the age-range. A newborn needs around 14 to 17 hours, while a preschooler would sleep for 11 to 13 hours. At the same time, as we grow, the hours decrease. The teenagers, adults and old require nearly as much of 10, 8 and 6 hours of daily rest, respectively. An hour here and there is totally fine.

The overall state of our health remains an essential question. Most of us know that getting a good night’s rest is important, but too few of us actually make those eight or so hours between the sheets a priority.

Essential Things To Do If You Lose Your Wallet In India

Losing wallet had become a common thing for June. This was the third time she had lost it while spending her leisure time with friends. Chilling at one of the benches of an alley with friends, she left the place unknowing of what she had forgotten. After some time, when they had gulped a chocolate pancake, at the time of payment, she did realize that her wallet was missing.

Essential Things To Do If You Lose Your Wallet In India

List Of Things In Wallet

List down or think over the things or commodities had been present in the wallet. The wallet generally consists of cash, keys, cards like Driving License, PAN, debit, credit, and visiting cards and anything important to our identity. Contact The Places Or Visit The Locale

As soon as you realize you have lost your wallet, visit the locale where you could recall you must have misplaced or lost it. Take a sneak peek of every corner and unlikeliest spots that you think you would have dropped it. Contact the venues, in order to know the whereabouts of your purse or share your contact with them, if in any case they find it.

In order to avoid fraudulent cases, it is umpteen important to file an FIR in the local police station. Documents of PAN, driving license, Voter-ID, etc. could be at risk of being mal-used by someone. This could lead you into a greater trouble.

Apart from things to do after you lose a wallet, it is also important to keep a note of certain ideas. Let your wallet be not overloaded with unnecessary documents. Shred the amount by discarding paid bills and card receipts, keep a photocopy of identity cards rather than having the original ones, or keep a photo in your phone, and many other things that you practically think is of no point to store in it. The Post—A Tale of a Crucial and Monumental Decision

Had it not been a friend who recommended me to watch the latest Hollywood movie, The Post, I would have whiled away my time scrolling all my social media accounts to gratify my dull senses, that flare up every weekend. The intuitive decision emerged from a pool of other bleak plans.

The power of making a decision does not lie in the profits it will deliver but whether it did be befitting to ourselves or not. Will the decided-aspect be comforting or will it deliver friction to the productive sustenance? Apart from all of the future results, the exact moment of decision is crucial to me. One is left on a narrow ridge, totally directionless. Hovered by prickly anxiety, you have to decide on what side will you hop, but you are clueless about which valley will hurt you more!

However, the decision-making moment has always been tricky. Taking an overview after few years, one mocks at oneself of being so heavy-hearted and grim-faced for such a minuscule facet of life. Basically, in future, the same resolved issue is a perfect case for us to study on how and why of the matter.

Coming back to that sensitive moment of taking a decision, we feel like being juxtaposed between the darkest of the colors of our mind. Fear, confusion, inhibitions, excitement, overthinking, others opinions, the selfish motive, and the betterment of team (workers or family and friends, etc.), together are screaming their lungs out. The chaos is brimming. But, this all exists because we entertain them. Flip your conscientious mechanism and your decision is naked to you.

The Post—A Tale of Decision

The Post is about the legendary and entrepreneurially-expert lady, Katharine Graham (Meryl Streep), bright-natured Ben Bradlee (Tom Hanks), of the The Washington Post newspaper, as their main protagonists. The whole movie exposes the scenario of how the successive presidents of US have tampered the truth of Vietnam wars by not disclosing the facts to the masses. The movie re-reels the reality of the 1970s.

Cutting it short, it was Katherine Graham’s birthday, the day when she had to decide whether she prints the papers or slide under the rat-hole of bickering consequences-laden fear. She, remarked for how bosses (how I have experienced dutifully delivering my solicited pieces of advice to one of them) make their decisions by accepting the genuine thinking process of their confidantes, considers the opinion of same close associate over a conference call with all other male-board members of The Washington Post.  Like always, he (the associate) decides on the grounds of what is right and wrong for the firm. But this time she is not in tandem with his opinion, rather her instincts make her believe the original pure objective of running a reputed and revered media company—the service of spreading true information to each home.

The scene: Katherine Graham is alone in her cabinet attired in a beautiful golden-brocade, beige-tinted gown, clutching the phone, the forehead does not reveal a wrinkle of her perplexed state, while her eyes are imagining the farthest most permutations of the unsuitable repercussions that might occur due to her forthcoming righteous decision. So, to say, if there are ten officials over the conference call, only one backed her. She does it with a vigor yet maintains her solid composure. She assertively decides to run the Pentagon Papers.

Katherine Graham had inherited the firm from his husband, after his death. She is sensitive, emotive and yet politically professional enough to take the charge when it is essentially needed. The movie strengthens the facts that wisest are the those who possess the determined capability to take decisions over the ones who walk in the lanes of timidity.

Why Do Girls Think That They Are Wiser Than Boys? – 5 Valid Reasons

This is not a document to continue the ongoing stating of differences of who is better than who, but this is a statement of reality that proves in the illumining light. Today, girls are conscious of it while before they did not consider it significant to move out of their shell. Rather they were okay to suppress their thoughts. Nevertheless, women did play a major role in the Indian society.

Girls Are Better At Finding Things Than Boys

Everyone knows that is a tale of each home. Make your brother find some unfound object or a lost thing and he will give up within no time! Don’t you all sisters agree? In addition, Psychology Professor Diane Halpern proved that women are better at navigating things than men. They use unique landmarks to find things, such as lost keys or missing remote control.

Pain Tolerance

Women tolerate pain better than men. Thanks to the nature to endow women with the miraculous feat of childbirth and its process. Also, the episode of “MythBusters” proved that women can hold their hands in freezing water 19% longer than men. At the same time, we win because we are tolerant to the tantrums of men.

When it comes to multitasking, women beat the shit out of men. Women possess more than a pair of limbs. They not only take up childcare, a household daily chores but also manage official work without a pinch of annoyance. On the contrary, they begin to love their life more than ever. Watch, “I Don’t Know How She Does It” and you will validate it yourself. Even studies on multitasking have proved that women can handle multiple jobs together; be it cooking, talking on a phone, changing diapers of babies, household chores or a job.

Emotional Intelligence (EQ)

Decades of research shows that boys and girls have equal general intelligence, but not in EQ case. There are subtle differences in their emotional intelligence. TalentSmart is the world’s 1st provider of emotional intelligence {EQ}. It has tested the emotional intelligence of more than a million people and it is clear that women have the upper hand.

It is quite obvious and evident since ages that women play a better role in any field of profession just because of their emotive interaction. Not only women find it easy to communicate but also men approach women when it comes to sensitive matters of life.

Social Awareness

Social Awareness is how well you understand the emotions and experience of other people. This requires the ability to tune into body language and other unspoken signals. This is also a skill that women are socialized to practice and possess from childhood in ways that men aren’t. Right or wrong, women are expected to take care of other people and this gives them an upper hand when it comes to social awareness.

These were basic reasons and I am totally aware of many but the professional limit needs to be respected. Hence, comments are welcome.

Check out my observations that titles, 7 things that no longer embarrass today’s Indian women.
