We really don’t know how long we are going to live. Some say it’s all about genetics. What do you think? Is it true? No! not at all. There are lots of ways that can really help us live a long and healthy life. I know it’s not easy and possible to follow all of them, but we can at least follow one such way.

The most possible and the easiest way is changing our food habit. The latest research says that our food habit or diet is the most prime indicator of showing, how long we will live. It also indicates whether we are going to develop any kind of life-shortening chronic diseases or not.

In short, we must know and aware of what we are eating. The most important point is the food we are eating must have those essential ingredients needed to live long and healthy.

FRUITS AND VEGETABLES:

All colorful vegetables and fruits are packed with antioxidants. Antioxidants inhibit or hamper the oxidation. Oxidation produces free radicals that can damage our healthy cells. This is perhaps the best fat we should have. It boosts our memory and helps fight inflammation. It helps lower the bad cholesterol (LDL) without affecting the good cholesterol (HDL), thus, protecting the heart as well.

FISH:

Fish contains fatty acids, EPA and DHA. It can boost brain function and our nervous system. It also prevents dementia and joint pain. The Omega-3 in fish can lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides.

These are the natural nutritional powerhouses. We must add these 3 to 4 times per week in our diet. It also contains fiber, which helps in digestion and also minimizes the chances of diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. It also helps us to lose weight.

NUTS:

It contains cholesterol-free plant protein and other nutrients. It also contains Vitamin E, which helps lower the risk of stroke. But as it contains fat, we must have it in moderation.

MILK:

It contains Vitamin D, which helps the body taking in and use the calcium properly. Thus, it safeguards us from osteoporosis. Vitamin D also lowers the chances of colon, breast, and prostate cancers. Moreover, eating yogurt really helps in digestion.

WHOLEGRAIN:

Learn adding whole grain to the diet. It lowers the chances of having certain types of cancers, type-2 diabetes, and heart disease. It also contains fiber that helps prevent constipation and diverticular disease.

  • The Golden Temple has one Roti-making machine which was contributed by a Lebanese devotee. It has the capacity to make 25,000 Rotis in just one hour. They use this machine on religious occasions or on holidays when large numbers of people arrive here.

  • Daily consumption of raw materials is also amazing – 5,000 Kilos of Wheat, 1,800 Kilos of Daal, 1,400 Kilos of Rice & 700 Kilos of Milk daily consumed here in the kitchen. About 100 cylinders are used to cook the food.
  • All these raw materials come from Delhi. They also purchase some materials locally. They receive lots of donations in the form of cash or raw material daily.

  • Standard cooking vessels are not sufficient to cook such a large quantity of food. So they use large-sized vessels that can store 700 kilos of Kheer or Daal at once!

Knowing that you already stopped growing is just frustrating. But knowing that it’s your lifestyle the culprit behind your growth disorder, is more aggravating. Know that you’re not the only one who’s suffering from this dilemma. According to a study conducted by Imperial College London, the average height of an Indian woman is 5 feet whereas for an Indian man it’s 5 feet 4.9 inches. So, if you live in India, you’re already born with a height concern when comparing to some other countries.

Maybe your concerns started as you saw your friends growing taller suddenly. That’s where I began to worry about my growth disorder. But, the truth is, a person’s height is mostly determined by things such as genes.

There are many factors that can affect your growth. During your teenage, your growth is controlled by your activities and diets. Your body needs enough nutrition and movement to support your growth. For example, a plant needs nutrient-rich soil for its growth. It’s the same for you as well.

However, it’s too soon to give up your hopes. You can counter your growth disorder by introducing certain healthy habits.

Consume a balanced diet

Eating lean protein, meat, fish, soy, and calcium-rich foods can help to promote the growth of healthy bones. Studies also show that zinc deficiency can also stunt growth in teenagers. You can include pumpkin, squash seeds, peanuts to supplement your body with enough zinc.

Also, try to avoid or keep a control on pizza, cake, sweets, and soda. Being fit will make you look taller and feel better.

Engage in physical activitiesgrowth disorder

Getting regular exercise can help you grow taller. In fact, engaging in physical activities throughout your teenage has a huge impact on your growth. Try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise every day. Join a gym or join a sports team, you can see that you’re getting taller when you’re getting enough exercise.

Get between 9 to 11 hours of sleep each night. Your body grows while you’re asleep. Hence, having enough sleep means that you’re giving plenty of time for your body to grow. Don’t spend the night staring at your phone’s screen, give that time for your body to grow.

Avoid the use of cigarettes and alcohol if you don’t want to stunt your growth. These habits are proven to affect your natural growth, so avoid such bad habits while you’re young. You can expect to grow till your twenties, keep that in mind.
