The Nokia 8110 Returns – Revamped Their Older Model to A Newer 4G

Nokia was used to be one of the world’s biggest mobile phone manufacturers, but it fell behind with the arrival of Android and iPhone smartphones. But now, Nokia is gearing up for their latest smartphones. The Nokia 8110 4G is the new reloaded 4G feature mobile phone by Nokia. This model has a new design that rescues the best of the original model. The original model of Nokia 8110 was presented in the year 1998. In 2018 Nokia has reloaded it with a new design and many great applications.

Nokia has done it again at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) – 2018. The brand has taken advantage of this year’s edition to repeat the recall effect that it achieved last year with the new Nokia 3310 reviving one of the mythical models of the brand.

Nokia 8110 will have E-mail, Calendar, Facebook, Google Searches, Google Maps, Google Assistant, and so many other great things. Nokia also claims that this model will have automatic synchronization of these applications as if it were any other terminal with the Android operating system.

Banana Style Design – Nokia 8110:

Nokia 8110

The Nokia 8110 was introduced in 1998. And it was one of the most famous devices in the world of mobile phones. Nokia wants to rescue it, as they did with the 3310.

The original Nokia 8110 was characterized by a curved design and a sliding cover that covered the numeric keypad. They have kept the same design in this new model. The keyboard will be accessible after sliding a small lid as in the original version. Obviously, the manufacturing of the terminal will be in plastic material. Nokia 8110 will be available in black and in a pretty striking “banana” color.

New Software: “KaiOS”:

Nokia 8110

Kai OS is a Linux-based operating system for Mobile. This system merges the power of a smartphone with the affordability of a feature phone. The new Nokia 8110 is also Nokia with Android but there is no place for any of the versions of the Google system in the Nokia feature phones and the New 8110 also has Kai OS.

Smartest Model:

Nokia 8110

What is even more interesting than its design is that the Nokia 8110 4G is smarter and thanks to its various features such as Assistant, Maps, Facebook, and a handful of other applications that can be installed on the mobile. The detail is that Nokia presented this phone as a feature phone and not as a smartphone. In addition, as the name suggests, the phone has 4G connectivity which allows using it as a hotspot.

lung disease due to smoking

Most people in the world, especially the smokers generally suffer from one common disease called lung disease. This is a very common medical condition among the smokers, which they many time willingly or unwillingly ignore. But before its getting too late, one must think about giving protection to their lungs. Hopefully, there are some ways by which we can safeguard our lung.

If you are a smoker, the most effective way to have better lung function is to do regular physical activities. According to a group of researchers, if we do or indulge in some kind of vigorous physical activity or exercises during our leisure time, it can enhance the lung functions. It proves the importance of physical activity among current smokers, especially with a poor lung function.

When we exercise two of our body organs come into action that is the heart and the lung. The lung brings oxygen into our body, provides energy and removes carbon dioxide, while heart pumps oxygen to the muscles.

The lung capacity of an average person can be increased from 5 percent to 15 percent with frequent exercise. You can do any kind of physical exercise but the important point is you must have to follow a regular workout routine. Swimming, walking, running, and cycling are some exercises that one must practice on a daily routine basis. In order to stay healthy, one must do 30 minutes of moderate exercise at least 4 to 5 days in a week.

If we do exercises on a regular basis, it can increase the strength and efficiency of our muscle function, which results in a lesser requirement of oxygen by the muscle to move and hence, produce less carbon dioxide. Exercise improves our overall physical and psychological well-being. It reduces the risk of developing other conditions such as stroke, heart disease, and depression. Regular exercises also help prevent type-II diabetes.

Smoking is too dangerous for our lung. The effect starts with coughs, colds, wheezing, and asthma. But it’s just the beginning. It can lead to many kinds of fatal diseases, such as pneumonia, emphysema and lung cancer. A report says, 84% of deaths from lung cancer and 83% of deaths from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is only due to smoking.

That’s why we should always quit smoking and look after our lung properly. Smoking generally affects our stamina which decreases the ability to undertake physical activity and reach our true potential. If we quit smoking, we will be able to exercise for a longer time which can be felt even as early as two weeks after the last cigarette.

Antioxidants present in green vegetables help the body to get rid of harmful toxins. Cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower are such kind of vegetables that help to cleanse our blood as well as our lungs. Tomatoes, carrots, red pepper, sweet potatoes are all rich sources of these antioxidants.

best foods for lungOmega-3 fatty acid-rich foods can help cleanse our lungs as well as keep our pulmonary system working efficiently. Examples of such foods are oily fish like mackerel, salmon, seeds and nuts, and eggs.

Flavonoids are other important components found in citrus fruits, berries and other fruits that are best for our lung to get cleansed. They possess antioxidant, which affects many organs in the body, including our lungs. Some foods with flavonoids are apples, blueberries, oranges, lemons etc.

Garlic is another important food which can help us keep our lungs healthy. The benefits of consuming garlic come from a compound called allicin, which acts as a powerful natural antibiotic agent in the body and can help kill off respiratory infections that can clog your lungs. A study in 2013 reveals that consuming raw garlic can help prevent lung cancer. It is also found by researchers that garlic prevents lung damage caused by pollution, smoking, and poor air quality.

In short, we have plenty of ways in hand by which we can protect our lungs and keep it strong and healthy. After all, it’s your body; if you don’t love and care for it, who else does.

Shami’s Marital Controversy- What’s the Truth behind it?

It seems the marital bliss of the famous Indian pacer Mohammad Shami is over. The last few days have shown the ugliest rift in his marital cord with his indecent text messages with multiple women being uploaded to social media. So, what’s the whole case about? Let’s dig deeper into this controversy.

What’s the controversy?

Hasin Jahan, the wife of the cricketer, has accused him of torturing her and even having extra-marital affairs. She even said that Shami had threatened her with dire consequences if she tries to expose him publicly. All these allegations have been made on the Facebook post by an unverified account. It was titled as ‘Shami’s enjoyment’ with several pictures of Shami’s obscene chats with a number of women. Not only this, photos and phone numbers of the women with whom he has been involved were also uploaded. However, the account was deleted later.

Allegations made by Shami’s wife

Shami’s wife has also accused his family of domestic violence and physically assaulting her on several occasions. The couple who had got married in 2014 also has a 3-year-old daughter. As per Jahan’s accusations, the pacer remained repeatedly involved in extra-marital affairs since their marriage and his family even tried to kill her. She said, “Everyone in their family used to torture me. His mother and brother used to abuse me. The tortures continued till 2-3 a.m. in the morning. They even wanted to kill me.” She further added, “I gave him enough time (to rectify mistakes) and tried to calm myself down but instead of accepting his own mistakes, he used to vent his anger on me and even threaten me, asking to keep mum for my own goodwill.”

What Shami Said in his Defence

However, Shami who is currently playing in Deodhar Trophy for India A has denied all the allegations levied on him and called it a conspiracy to ruin his performance in the upcoming matches.

What can be the next step of Shami’s wife?

On the other side, Jahan’s lawyer Zakir Hussain said she was hopeful. She wanted to give chance to Shami to change his manners in order to avoid taking any legal action. “She is giving it some time. So we will wait a bit before taking any legal action,” Hussain informed on the phone.

Impact of Controversy on Shami’s Career

This whole controversy has already impacted the cricketer’s professional front as Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) dropped his name from annual player contracts system. As per the information provided by BCCI sources, “Shami has been dropped from the player contracts system because his wife filed a complaint against him.”It was further added, “Shami has been dropped from the contract due to disciplinary reason and will be included in the contract list if (his) innocence is proved.”

Truth Eagerly Awaited

It is for the first time that the wife of a famous Indian cricketer took the help of social media to make her husband’s apparent misdemeanors public. Apart from this, she has also lodged an official complaint with Kolkata police.

As a high profile case which involves a renowned Indian cricketer, all eyes are set to know the truth behind the whole controversy. Only the time will tell if it’s a conspiracy to malign the cricketer’s image or it’s actually his true face.

Svalbard Global Seed Vault: The Modern Day “Noah’s Ark”

Global Seed Vault

The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen near Longyearbyen. Some call it “Doomsday Vault”, others refer to it as “Noah‘s Ark” of food crops. It is buried inside a former coal mine on Svalbard, a remote Arctic island in a Norwegian archipelago around 1,300 km from the North Pole. The vault was established by the conservationist ‘’Carry Fowler’’. His association was with the consultative group of International Agricultural Research. Its main motto was to preserve a wide variety of plant seeds covering the whole world.

The Seed Vault was opened in 2008 which was designed to withstand a nuclear missile hit. It plays a key role in preserving the world’s genetic diversity. And it’s the home to more than 900000 varieties of seeds. It offers a safety net in case of natural catastrophe, climate change, disease or manmade disasters. Nations like Netherlands, Irelands, Canada, Switzerland; International seed research from Colombia, Mexico, India, Pakistan, and Syria placed their samples into the storage. At present, the vault contains one-third of the world’s most important food crops varieties.

But there is a problem which is arising due to global warming. Warm temperature disrupted the environment around the vault. The temperature inside the vault is at -18 c. The permafrost, surrounding the facility will help maintain the low temperature of the seeds, should there be a power failure. But unfortunately, the permafrost which is for its protection, melted in 2016. According to one of the Seed Bank’s Co-ordinator Asmund Asdal, due to the unexpected warmer summer season, the water intruded in the (access) tunnel, which is a major and serious outcome of climate change.

The Arctic is warming twice as fast as the rest of the planet. And Europe is at the moment experiencing a sub-zero cold spell, the North Pole recently registered above zero temperatures, 30 degrees higher than normal. According to the scientists, warm spells like these are occurring with increasing frequency in the Arctic.

The Norway govt. wanted to be sure that the seed vault will be cold throughout the whole year even if, the temperature continues to increase in Svalbard. Therefore, Norway recently announced contributions of 12.5 million dollars to improve the repository in a bid to protect the precious seeds.

Once you enter, it will lead you to a small tunnel-like room filled with the loud buzzing sound of electricity and cooling systems, which is there to keep a consistent temperature within the vault. To reach the end, one has to pass through the wide concrete tunnel illuminated by strip lighting leading 120 meters down into the mountain. At the end of this corridor, there is a chamber, an added layer of security which protects the vaults containing the seeds of varieties of food crops.

All necessary measures are there to take care the Vault from all kinds of possible atrocities and danger. There is a cabin to remove heat sources from the tunnel, near the site to house all the technical materials that can generate heat. It is mainly to prevent a recurrence of melting permafrost.

Inside Seed Vault

If you deeply see and think within the bowels of an icy mountain lies a resource of vital importance, which holds the future of humankind. It’s neither coal, oil, gold nor diamond, but seeds. In the time of hatred and increasing geopolitical tensions and uncertainty, the Svalbard vault will act as the only ultimate savior of mankind. It also acts as a symbol of unity because any organization or country can send seeds to it, it is beyond restrictions. Boxes from North Korea sit alongside boxes from the U.S. And, boxes of seeds from Pakistan sit happily with the boxes of seeds from India.  As long as they are cold and safe, that’s all that really matters.

Let us talk about Women Empowerment!

Women empowerment - Shopping

The Women’s Day is almost here. So, let’s ask the important question – Who is the independent, successful, empowered woman of today? If the media and the advertising world is to be believed, if you want to be the independent woman, you need to follow certain steps. Your hair needs to be colored with a particular hair color, you obviously need a new haircut, and oh yes! Bring on those cosmetics and make-up products! And what good is all this, if you are not wearing the correct clothes and shoes? Here comes the shopping spree. And lingerie? Everybody knows an empowered woman has to be beautiful inside out, isn’t it? And don’t worry. Shhh! We have Women’s Day discounts on everything! And did you book the table for the women’s day celebration dinner? And what about that event on women empowerment which is also an exhibition cum sale, so you can pick up some nice stuff while chatting about how women need to fight for their rights?

The above might seem a tad bit harsh, but it’s true. Women’s Day has become just a day to celebrate and send flowers and presents across to the women in your lives. A day for the urban woman to take a break from the kitchen and go out for a fancy dinner. A day to post ‘thank-you mom’ or ‘thank-you wife’ messages on the social media. A day for sending quotes on woman empowerment placed prettily on an image with a strong-looking woman in the background.

But is that enough?

Women empowerment - sad

Hardly! While female fetuses are still being killed in the wombs or infant girls buried alive or abandoned; while women still feel unsafe on the streets and in their own houses, we can hardly say the women are empowered. Domestic and sexual violence is still on the rise in spite of the laws. The gender pay gap is an issue so big all over the world that experts believe it will be another 118 years for this gap to close. The sex ratio in India is skewed even today despite the government’s efforts to educate the people on this subject. In rural India, girls are still being forced by their circumstances to drop out of the school.

The way ahead!

We must admit, though, that women empowerment, even though highly lacking, has come a long way! From the times when girls were denied education and basic rights and were married off without their consents to men twice their age, we have definitely come a long way.

But a woman’s life is not easy in a country like India with its deep-rooted patriarchal views. Education is definitely the first step to bring about a change. Awareness about one’s rights is important for women to know what is wrong and what is right. The normalization of women’s issues, saying that this is how the world works needs to stop and it needs to stop right NOW! There is a strong need to sensitize people about the issues of women. Today’s boys who will be men tomorrow, need to be taught early on that men and women are equal. Not just the men, even the women need to understand that they deserve equal rights. Women need to support each other today, more than ever.

Women are born strong and can reach for the stars if they set their minds on it. The self-victimization needs to stop and it’s time women took matters into their own hands. But just as the world is incomplete without women, it is so without men too! Equality between men and woman can be achieved only when both the sexes work together towards it. And equality is the first step towards true women empowerment!

“Vipassana” – India’s Ancient Technique of Meditation

Today, the life is full of stress and has become hectic. So, every individual in the world wants to improve their mental and physical well-being. There are many techniques of meditation around the world, but Vipassana is one of India’s most ancient techniques. It was discovered by Gautam Buddha 2500 years ago. There are some simple, yet strict rules which you need to follow during the entire meditation session.

What is Vipassana?

The word Vipassana means “to see things as they really are” and it is the meditation technique that Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism used to achieve enlightenment.

Unlike what many people believe, this type of meditation does not consist in sitting down to study your thoughts and reflect on life, but in observing your body and your mind. Just observe, without any reaction. By doing this, according to the Buddhist tradition, you are slowly freeing yourself from the attachment and hatred that you have accumulated over the time, which is the cause of your unhappiness.

Vipassana meditation is a very practical technique. That is, what matters is that you end up receiving the benefits of meditation, and everything else is secondary.

Rules of the Vipassana Meditation Course:

When you join for Vipassana, there are some rules which you need to follow during the course of Meditation.

  • You must meditate 10 hours a day

  • You cannot read any other material
  • You cannot smoke
  • You cannot have any sexual activities
  • You cannot kill any living thing
  • You cannot lie
  • You cannot take any intoxicating substances such as tobacco or alcohol

As you can see, the rules are quite strict because their aim is not to distract you and learn the technique correctly.

About the Meditation Centers:

Vipassana meditation is taught as 10-day courses. There are longer and shorter courses for advanced students but for beginners, the minimum is 10 days.

There are several centers in India and they always follow the same structure and functioning. The meditation centers are located in remote areas of the city so that there is total silence. Usually, they have three well-differentiated areas: bedrooms, dining room, and meditation room. Men and women are separated during the course, with their own dining room, dormitory, and teacher. They only meet in the hall during group meditations.

In general, the limit of meditation course is ten days, although there are those who have meditated for up to 90 days.

Fees for this Vipassana Course:

It is completely free and at the end of the session, you can donate whatever you want.
